Recent werk. Seweryn Swacha was born in 1979 Studied Painting in Zielona Góra University Department of Art. Graduated In 2006 In prof. Ryszard Woźniak’s studio. The new painting of Seweryn Swacha drifts away from classical or traditional painting. Seweryn few years ago /In 2004/05/ created some drawing collages. Nowadays, he composes collage in the painting. In his creating process the painter reproduces icons unlike old masters of painting, his are pop icons, types, models , characters of people now, of mass culture. He clothes his personages into idols like Rambo, Klimt, Heartbraker or Pussy Bear. He interprets the persons afresh. He copies painter’s gestures by gluing cuttings from newspapers, journals and magazines about fashion. For him the icon of mass media photo becomes epidermis of reality. Swacha in his paintings discovers, covert in the mass media, body of people. They are body-builders/”Ikona”/, elastic complexion of models, so the skin they live in becomes so visible, tactile, reveals real looks. Cuttings from Elle, Viva, style each celebrity. Swacha does anti-styling, his works are subversive, and antidistructive. Works provoking with used content, waste products,cuttings were treated once with disdain. A collage could be an assamblage, a photoasamblage but it was a specialized artist’s act, the art which was often excluded and a means to something ,like e.g. ready-mades. Collages became Swacha's quality paintings. He is expansive, and has an interactive style of the picture, he imitates collage and not populist, overproductive tendencies in art now.
